Dr. Rammohan Sripad Bhat is currently working as a Consultant Nephrologist at Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bangalore. He has more than eight years of experience in all aspects of Nephrology including Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis and Renal Transplantation. He has been trained in prestigious institutions, in different healthcare settings, in India and in the United Kingdom. His special interests include Hypertension and Interventional Nephrology.
Dr. Rammohan specializes in General Medicine and Nephrology, and has special interest in Interventional Nephrology. He is one of the very few nephrologists in India who does Tunnelled dialysis catheter, Ultrasound guided Renal Biopsy in special and difficult circumstances and Peritoneal dialysis catheter placement. He is also experienced in performing Fluroscopy guided Venous catheter placement in difficult circumstances, Doppler ultrasound of dialysis access for surveillance, and Venous mapping for fistula creation under supervision.
Dr. Bhat has worked as a Consultant Acute Medicine (Locum) in University Hospital South Manchester and University Hospital of North Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent, United Kingdom prior to returning to India in 2013. He has received comprehensive rotational training and has received CCT in Nephrology, Renal Transplantation and General Medicine from Mersey Deanery, United Kingdom.
He is known as a passionate teacher and an astute clinician with immense knowledge in the area of Nephrology and General Medicine that he has garnered over his training and services in United Kingdom and continues to bring innovative techniques in interventional Nephrology. Dr. Rammohan enjoys teaching and has been complimented on having a natural aptitude for this. He is frequently asked to contribute to teaching sessions. He has been actively involved in formal and informal education of medical students, junior doctors, colleagues and allied health professionals throughout his career.
As a highly dedicated Researcher and Writer, Dr. Rammohan has completed and published a number of projects. The project “A Microbiological Survey of Bicarbonate Based Replacement Circuits in Continuous Veno-Venous Hemofiltration (CVVH)” was funded by Northern Counties Kidney Research Fund and is recognized by the worldwide Nephrologists. Another project “A Randomised Double-Blind Controlled Trail of Taurolidine-Citrate Catheter Locks for the Prevention of Bacteremia in Patients Treated With Hemodialysis” was a multi-centre trial which was led by Dr. Solomon from Royal Preston Renal Unit. As a renowned writer he has a number of articles in peer reviewed journals published in national and international publications adding to his credit.
His commitment towards bringing advanced and expert care made him attend a multitude of medical conferences held both nationally and internationally and has presented a number of papers and posters. Dr. Rammohan has participated in the Vascular Access Society Meeting held in Rome, British Transplantation Society Annual Congress 2011, ERA- EDTA Congress, Munich 2010, Renal Association and British Transplantation Society Joint Annual Conference 2009 etc.
As a passionate clinician, he constantly keeps abreast of developing and advanced technology, and attends various national and international courses to improve his realm of work. Dr. Rammohan graduated from Karnataka University, and pursued his postgraduation in Safdarjang Hospital, India. He was conferred MD in May 2002. He has pursued his higher studies in United Kingdom and achieved MRCP (Edinburgh) and MRCP (Nephrology) from the Federation of RCP, United Kingdom, and CCT Nephrology and GIM in United Kingdom.
